Android provides an abundance of mobile gaming experiences ranging from roguelikes and card games, Gacha adventures and strategy titles – the best being original creations tailored specifically for smartphones from start-to-finish.
PUBG Mobile’s genre-defining battle royale pits 100 players onto an immense map for fluid combat and realistic gun mechanics, offering each run an unpredictable new challenge. Its rogue-lite mechanics also provide for constant surprises!
1. Hearthstone
Hearthstone is one of the best Android games for those who appreciate well-executed card games with free-to-play elements, living up to its “easy to learn, hard to master” mantra and drawing strength from its community of players.
PUBG Mobile is an impressive technological accomplishment that brings battle royale action right onto smartphones, with intuitive controls and various gameplay modes that create an enjoyable experience for fans of this genre. Furthermore, its optional microtransaction system ensures player ownership. Another outstanding strategic action game on Android is Into the Breach.
2. Gwent
Gwent is an engaging deckbuilder game inspired by The Witcher 3’s popular mini-game, offering balanced luck without becoming boring matches. With its roguelike elements including random events and upgrades for cards, Gwent provides thrilling battles and stands alone as an enjoyable deckbuilding game.
Gwent is a fantastic free-to-play strategy game with some balancing issues, but nonetheless highly enjoyable. It’s faster than Hearthstone, less pay-to-win, and captures one of our favourite gaming universes; something all fans of strategy games should experience at least once!
3. Marvel Snap
Second Dinner Studio’s award-winning mobile and PC card battler MARVEL SNAP pits Marvel heroes and villains against each other in a battle royale for control of three locations with different properties. Players build decks of cards before taking turns competing to claim them all.
Asphalt 9 racing series has long been an enjoyable mobile racing option, yet this year has been held back by aggressive monetization strategies. Meanwhile, PUBG Mobile provides an engaging shooting experience without monetization tactics and regularly receives updates that keep it fresh.
4. Titan Quest
Titan Quest stands out in a sea of mobile Diablo-esque experiences as an enjoyable and captivating mobile experience, stretching decision-making abilities and tactical abilities alike.
Shooter games remain immensely popular on Android. PUBG Mobile stands out as an impressive adaptation, while Call of Duty Mobile delivers console-quality FPS action on-the-go.
Gwent is a deck-building roguelike set in The Witcher universe; Bad North takes tower defense into Viking territory. Other 2024 standouts include Transmission (a soothing puzzle game that puts control of networks into your hands); and Vectronom, a psychedelic puzzle platformer.
5. Minecraft
Mojang Studio’s Minecraft has quickly become one of the world’s most renowned video games since its original release over a decade ago, drawing players of all ages and even providing successful careers for streaming personalities.
Action games test players’ aim, decision-making abilities and tactical prowess. Android provides an expansive library of roguelikes, deck builders and gacha games designed for quick bursts of entertainment – free or otherwise!
Role-playing games (RPGs) can be extensive investments of time. Gwent is an ideal option if you prefer a lighter RPG experience.
6. Monument Valley 2
Monument Valley 2 provides an engaging story about mother and daughter that will leave you breathless with delight and unforgettable moments of wonderment. It will offer something truly relaxing in today’s mobile game market full of microtransactions and false advertising – the ideal escape to rejuvenate mind, body, and soul!
Ustwo takes full advantage of Escher’s influence, fusing pastel colors with impossible architecture for an emotive narrative experience. A level that transforms into a kaleidoscope is sure to astonish; similarly so is the final scene when Ro and her daughter part ways on a sailboat.
7. Dead Cells
Dead Cells was one of the first metroidvania roguelikes on the indie scene and its progression system demands you balance risk against reward in its fluid combat system.
Battle royale games like PUBG Mobile have propelled Android gaming to new heights, offering regular updates and incredible gameplay. More traditional shooters like Call of Duty and Doom also provide immersive console-style experiences tailored to mobile devices.
8. Dead Trigger 2
Android games that test your strategic decision-making, aim and tactical abilities are plenty. One such title is Into the Breach which uses turn-based tactics similar to XCOM to put massive mechs into battle in turn-based battle.
Madfinger Games’s sequel to Dead Trigger is an exhilarating, jaw-droppingly beautiful, bloody first-person shooter that not only impresses visually but is incredibly satisfying when it comes to zombie killing itch satisfaction but can also showcase your phone’s stunning graphics (even using gamepad control!) It may not reinvent the wheel but proves mobile gaming can rival that of console or PC gaming in terms of experience and enjoyment.
9. Star Wars Battlefront
Android gaming’s best games range from casual arcade titles to more engaging experiences, from roguelikes and deck builders to gacha adventures and strategy titles – there’s something here for everyone on Google Play Store.
Star Wars Battlefront may disappoint fans due to its limited depth and lack of modes, but it remains an enjoyable game for casual players to pick up and play. There’s also plenty of ways to personalize your experience using weapons, grenades, secondaries and perks, while graphics on mobile are quite amazing – making this an excellent way to fight for the Empire!
10. Angry Birds Space
Angry Birds has long been a phenomenon, yet had become tiresome over time. Now with Space from Rovio Entertainment comes new ideas to add fresh excitement and variation into this classic game of physics-flinging fun!
Spacebirds works surprisingly well, making for a fun space-themed game with birds flying to planets and other outer-space environments. Plus, this version adds new twists like air science and gravity simulation that add extra challenges even for seemingly simple levels. Unfortunately, their push for in-app purchases detracts somewhat from its overall enjoyment but shouldn’t take away too much from your experience!
